The Enrichment Academy's 2010 Summer program provides exemplary, challenging and motivating academic experiences for all students. We are pleased to offer 7 camp sessions, along with our new Super Saturday series - seriously fun two-hour classes offered each Saturday (July 10 - August 21).


NEW LOCATION
All camp sessions and Super Saturdays will take place in our Downtown classroom at "Where The Sidewalk Begins", the headquarters of Salem-Keizer Education Foundation. The address is 233 Commercial Street NE, between Chemeketa and Court streets. Our phone is (503) 364-2933.


$89 PER STUDENT PER CAMP SESSION
Your registration fee includes snacks and an Enrichment Academy T-shirt. Students are responsible for all transportation to and from camp. Get a 20% discount if you are a Great Educators' Circle (GEC) Member. Remember, availability is limited, and Enrichment Academy classes and instructors are subject to change.


$5 PER STUDENT PER SUPER SATURDAY SESSION
Your registration fee includes snacks and an Enrichment Academy T-shirt. Students are responsible for all transportation to and from camp. Remember, availability is limited, and Enrichment Academy classes and instructors are subject to change.


$2 ONLINE REGISTRATION FEE
A $2 online registration fee will be added to each class you sign up for.

Lego Robotics (Advanced) details
Mural Magic
This camp is sure to ignite your creative side! Participants will complete various murals and other projects using techniques such as: paper folding, painting and fabric fusing. Sharpen your skills of coordinating colors, patterns and materials to create fantastic one-of-a-kind designs that are yours alone.

Lego Robotics (Beginning)
Do you want to learn how to design a basic robot that you have programmed to perform a task? Students will learn via tutorials how to design a robot; learn team work skills; use problem solving skills and download a program that they have designed. Students MUST be mature enough to sit at a computer for instruction plus learn to work and share as a team.

Lego Robotics (Advanced)
This session is for students grades 5-8 that have PRIOR experience programming and building with LEGO® Robotics. By the end of this camp, students will have completed a secret mission using a robot they have engineered.

Sleuthing, Logic & Mysteries
Calling all detectives! Come sharpen your deductive reasoning and logic skills. Explore fingerprinting, casting impressions, chromatography, decoding and other CSI techniques. Be part of an investigation team that will together solve several mysteries.

Babysitters Boot Camp
Hey, future babysitters! This is the session for you to get your babysitting business on its way! Come learn childcare basics and quick activities to get you started. You will also make a babysitting kit equipped with the essentials for every babysitter - including your own business cards! Campers will learn Basic First Aid and CPR, finishing the week with their American Red Cross Babysitting Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification.

Folding Words Together
Using a writer's workshop approach, learn to play with words! Engage in writing and illustrating projects that will spark creativity. Create and publish a hardbound book of your choice - poetry, limericks, lyrics, plays, a chapter book or even try your hand at comic book writing. Use pictures, words, and color to showcase your talent and captivate others.

Full of Hot Air
Participants will begin this session by constructing toy cars out of cardboard and various materials. The cars will be powered by an inflated balloon. The challenge is to create the car that will travel furthest.

Grades 3-7

Instructor: Vanessa Barnes

Cost: $5 + online registration fee
Set the Wheels in Motion
Participants will begin this session by constructing toy cars out of cardboard and various materials. They will then use small DC electric motors to spin propellers that move their cars. The challenge is to build the car that will move fastest and furthest.

Instructor: Vanessa Barnes

Stormin the Castle
Participants will build small, rubber-band powered catapults to launch a marshmallow across the room. The challenge is to build a catapult that will launch the marshmallow as far as possible.

Cost: $5 + online registration fee
Whatever Floats Your Boat
Participants will construct boats out of a variety of materials. The boats will then be propelled through a test tank by a balloon attached to the boat. The challenge is to construct the boat that will travel furthest.

It is a Whole New Board Game!
Participants will create their own unique board games using a variety of materials provided. They will learn the difference between mock-ups and prototypes.

Cleared for Takeoff
Build airplanes out of styrene trays. Students will be challenged to make planes that can fly far, planes that can turn smoothly or planes that can do tricks.

August 14 10a-12 noon    Sign-up is first come basis

Grades 3-7

Instructor: Vanessa Barnes

Cost: $5 + online registration fee
3...2...1...Blast Off!
Participants will construct paper rockets, aiming to get them to travel as far as possible when propelled by compressed air from a two-liter bottle. The testing of these rockets will take us outside to nearby Riverfront Park!

Authorization Agreement

I authorize the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation and its representatives to secure the services of physician or hospital, and to incur expenses for necessary services in the event of accident or illness, and I will provide payment for these. Every reasonable effort will be made to reach the parent(s) as soon as possible.

Camps are designed for the enjoyment and benefit of ALL campers. Should disciplinary problems occur, parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up the camper.
